Orientation

Orientation

What to Expect on Orientation Day
All students are asked to attend an Orientation Day to which they are invited ahead of their course start date. This is an excellent opportunity for you to familiarise yourself with the campus, meet fellow students, and get to know the resources available to support your academic journey.

During the Orientation, you’ll receive important information about the course structure, key policies, and tips to help you succeed. It’s also a great time to ask any questions and ensure you’re fully prepared before classes begin.

Arrival Information
When you arrive for Orientation, please head to our Student Services Office located at Level 5, 245 Castlereagh St, Sydney NSW 2000. Once there, our Student Services Officer will assist you by reviewing your passport or photo ID. They’ll confirm that all of your personal details are up to date in our system, ensuring everything is set for your course to begin.

What to Bring
 ✓ Passport / Photo-ID (Domestic students)
✓ English Proof (where requested as part of your enrolment)
✓ USI Code (VET students only)

Placement Test for VET Students
If you are a VET (Vocational Education and Training) student and do not have the appropriate proof of English proficiency, you will be required to take a Placement Test. This test will assess your current English language skills and help us ensure you meet the English requirements for your course.

The Placement Test is normally taken in person on campus on Orientation Day but may also be completed in advance. For any questions, feel free to send an email to admin@aioe.edu.au

Placement Test for ELICOS and General English Students
If you are an ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) student, you will be required to take a Placement Test and attend a Start of Course Interview with the Academic Manager. This test is designed to assess your current English language skills across the four components: Speaking, Reading, Writing, Listening. It will help us ensure that you are placed in the appropriate class level for your language proficiency.

The Placement Test will be taken in person on campus, and further details will be provided to you during your Orientation Day. Please be aware that the entire process, including the interview, may take approximately 1.5 hours.

Make sure you allow enough time to complete this process and be available for the full duration. We look forward to helping you start your studies on the right track!
